Who is yoga for and why choose yoga

Yoga is for anyone wanting more than a physical exercise from their practice. Truth be told, whatever exercise one does with their body, be it swimming, running, playing tennis or ballet dancing, the exercise inevitably influences the mind. What is characteristic of yoga though, is that we pay much attention to these influences and interactions. We observe the mind, shedding the light of awareness on our feeling and thinking patterns which trigger various reactions. When we do not condemn or judge our reactions, we are exercising neutral witnessing and acceptance, and allowing the feeling of love towards the self and others to grow. Acceptance is the seed of change, and all change on deeper level can come only after we have accepted ourselves as we are.

Here follows a list of some of the benefits from practicing yoga.

- On a physical level, yoga is for those seeking elasticity, strength, alignment, rest, relief from pain
- On a mental-emotional level, yoga is for those seeking calmness, release from stress, balance, concentration, clarity in thinking, easy and sound sleep
- On a spiritual level, yoga is for those seeking living in the present moment, alignment with their true nature, developing intuition and creativity, compassion and attunement with the inner-self and with the divine.

This doesn't mean that you need to be attracted to all of these, but if any one of these expresses what you feel you need, then yoga is for you.
